Get EMDR in South Edmonton by a Registered Psychologist

EMDR is an evidence-based approach to therapy and it focuses on treating emotionally-charged or upsetting experiences that interfere with your functioning. EMDR will help you to get yourself unstuck from emotional blocks that weigh on you. EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movements, also known as a type of bilateral stimulation (BLS) which helps you process and update disturbing images, memories or experiences that have negatively impacted you.  EMDR is a neurological process – not an intellectual or cognitive process.

The methodology of EMDR is extensively validated and associated with positive outcomes however questions still remain regarding the mechanism of action. It is thought that the rapid sets of eye movements in EMDR have a similar effect as your REM (rapid eye movement) sleep which also helps us to process troubling experiences. EMDR doesn’t require that you share all the details of your upsetting memories or experiences. It does not require prolonged exposure, homework, or direct challenging of your beliefs.
