Counselling for Perfectionism
Do you consider yourself to be a perfectionist? Do you feel that you can never achieve your high standards? Are you constantly criticizing yourself, finding flaws and errors and feeling as though something is wrong with you?
Are you working longer and harder than others just to get by but feel you have no other options? You might be struggling with perfectionism.
Perfectionism is a type of anxiety which can be crippling and debilitating. It can freeze you in your tracks and prevent you from taking any action toward your life goals. It can also feel like “paralysis analysis.”
While we hope our high expectations will motivate us to excel they often times become maladaptive and can even lead to low self-worth, depression, obsessions, or intense anxiety.
One of the first steps is to recognize that you struggle with a perfectionist mindset. I will help you to understand the function it has served in your life and the ways in which it has negatively impacted you, your relationships, and your performance at work.
I will help you examine your limiting beliefs and actions that have fed into your perfectionism. Finding more empowering attitudes and helpful perspectives are crucial to overcoming perfectionism.
Changing our perfectionism usually feels impossible, but, it can be managed and improved so that we are in control of it, rather than having it control us. Can you imagine how your life would be different or the time you would save if you manage your perfectionism?
